The Capital City is popular at all times of the year, mid summer can be hot, and for a few days break late spring and late summer are possibly the best times to visit Rome, you can walk around the major tourist spots in 3 or 4 hours, but allow longer, perhaps a two or three days in Rome to appreciate them properly, take a good pair of comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk the three or four miles the ancient sites encompass.
