Grand Teton National Park, is located 13 miles north of Jackson on US 89 and one of the main entrances to Yellowstone is just 59 miles north of Jackson at the edge of Teton National Park. so its a good place to stay when visiting Yellowstone National Park as well, in Summer the entrance to Yellowstone can be very busy and queues are likely, why not book into one of our hotels at Jackson the night before, you will be bright and fresh the next day, and an early start should help you to avoid any long queues.

 

The Tetons are 12 craggy peaks piercing the cloud level by thrusting abruptly from the floor of Jackson Hole (Valley) Grand Teton the tallest, rises to 13770 ft. the base of the mountain range is interspersed with seven moraine lakes, and a trip into the back country will give you the opportunity of seeing some of the 100 plus alpine lakes in this area. The 50 mile long mountain valley,  known as Jackson Hole is the home of the largest Elk herd in America.

The park is home to Black Bear in the forests, and the north pat of the park is visited by the Grizzly, Antelope, Moose, Bison and Mule Deer are regularly seen all over the park, along with Trumpeter Swans and Sandhill Cranes. Raptors include the Bald Eagle and Peregrine Falcon.

Things to do.
Take a float trip on the Snake River (4 hour and 2 hour trips) from Pacific Creek every day during the summer.
Enjoy a scenic boat trip on Jackson Lake,
There are many hiking and horseback riding trails, and of course fishing.

In the early morning and late evening you may observe, Moose, Wapiti Elk, Beaver, Sandhill Cranes, Canadian Geese, Blue Heron, and in the Lake lying before the meadows White Pelican.

Drives.
Scenic Drive 1, Bridger-Teton National Forest is a 56 mile drive between Dubois and Moran Junction along US 26, views of splendid Forest Scenery.

Scenic Drive 2, Signal Mountain Road, 13 miles north east of Moose Junction via Teton Park Rd. 5 miles long, with good vies of Jackson Lake.
The John. D. Rockefeller parkway, a 59 mile trip between Jackson and Yellowstone along US 89, following the Snake River and the shore of Jackson Lake, fine mountain scenery.

Between the beginning of December through to the Beginning of April discover the winter pleasures of this region, Take a sleigh ride at the National Elk Refuge at Jackson Hole.

Dog sledding is available from Jackson.

Cross country skiing is a popular activity at Jackson, which has become one of the countries leading destinations for this sport.

For downhill skiing try Rendezvous Mountain behind Teton Village, there are beginners slopes, and some excellent intermediate and expert slopes, the downhill drop here is an immense 4139ft. which makes it possibly the longest vertical ski drop in North America.

Both sightseers and skiers enjoy the Gondola ride to the top

If you are including this area in a trip encompassing Bryce National Park, - 520 miles south - then a good place to break your journey would be Salt Lake City, (301 miles south) 
 

The Main Park Visitor & Information  points are at Moose, Jenny Lake, Colter Bay, and Flagg Ranch provide restrooms, pull in parking and entrances. The Restrooms and exhibits at Colter Bay may require assistance
